Regardless of the fact that the old saying states “A man’s home is his castle,” that castle can seem more like a prison if parents fail to imbue their home (and the family living in it) with the right kind of emotional and social environment–a supportive and comforting one. Despite whatever things need to be kept in mind regarding adults, it is incredibly important that parents pay attention to the needs children have and how they can be satisfied, generating precisely the positive sort of environment earlier mentioned.

Turning that mandate into a reality is, of course, a tricky matter that will vary from family to family and from parent to parent. What is for sure is that parents need to reinforce positive behavior in their children-and learn at the same time how to discourage negative behaviors that only serve to undermine a healthy and safe home…for all.

The first lesson that parents need to learn in this regard is that nothing works better than leading by example. Short of this, children will almost inevitably and without exception disregard their parents’ cajolings and indications regarding such basic notions as “good” versus “bad” and so on. This is to say that, in order for parents to successfully promote and discourage, respectively, the positive and negative behaviors they observe in their children, they have to practice what they preach. It’s a tough lesson for many parents to learn, but a fundamental and indispensable one.

With that idea firmly implanted inside a parent’s head, it then comes time to develop and elaborate one’s notion of exactly what behaviors are healthy and positive and which not; what should be reinforced and what discouraged. Indeed, it becomes necessary to ask the sobering question: what behaviors need to be supported and encouraged from a young age to let that child grow into a healthy, responsible adult life. Indeed, pondering these basic questions early on is a key part of the process of parenting.

A simple yet very over-arching way to think about this concept is to break it down into three sections: which behaviors are good for the child as a person; which behaviors are good for the family; and which behaviors are (and especially will be when the child grows up and becomes a fully fledged citizen) good for the greater society.

As seen from the first perspective described, that of the welfare of the child itself, parents need to focus on keeping the child constantly active–both mentally and physically. There’s another old saying which makes reference to healthy bodies and healthy minds, and there isn’t a person in the world that can achieve the one without the other.

From the family perspective, it’s important to remember to keep children engaged and on good terms with other family members (the idea of leading by example mentioned above applies here). Nurturing group activities over individual activities at an early age is important in this regard, though the necessity here will depend on the character of the child in question.

Last though most surely not least, from the vantage point of the good of society itself, it’s necessary to impulse a certain sense of responsibility and commitment to the community. Certain parents will use established religious institutions to reach this effect, whereas other people find other ways to get there. Either way, it’s important that parents stress the values of open-mindedness and acceptance of diversity.

Parents strive to give children the very best when it comes to health care, possessions, morals, experiences and, of course, education.

by Byron Jonas

Parents strive to give children the very best when it comes to health care, possessions, morals, experiences and, of course, education.

What is highly important in ensuring these elements is education.

As parents, we are highly aware that a solid education is of the utmost importance in rendering our children happy and successful adults. What kids learn in school is vital regardless of age or level.

While a solid base of knowledge is important, it is not always a sure thing. It is our job as parents to be active in our children’s education and to make sure that they are getting the tools they need for happy and successful lives. Find out how now:

1. Ask for References Reference-requesting should begin as soon as you start to think of sending your kids off to daycare or nursery school. Not only is this a way to make sure that the place you’ll be sending your son or daughter off too is reputable, but it’s also a way to make sure it is safe as well. Talk to friends with kids who are a bit older than your own to see what they say about the institutions to which they’ve children to send their children. Don’t be afraid to ask schools for references as well - they’ll be sure to have a list of fellow parents happy to talk to you about whatever questions or concerns you may have.

2. Encourage Involvement School is not just about what goes on in the classroom. In fact, many of the most important experiences children get in school comes from extracurricular activities. Encourage your child to get involved in at least one activity - a sport, a club, a student government entity, whatever interests them. There’s no need to be too forceful, but let them know how important such activities are. Not only are they great ways to make social connections and learn new things, but they also look great on resumes.

3. Know What’s Going On Simply knowing what your child’s doing in school is extremely important to ensuring the smooth running of his or her education. There’s no need to be too overbearing - just talking about school is probably enough. At the end of the day, ask your children how school is going. Find out what classes they’re taking and offer to help them out wherever you can. Know who their teachers are and talk to them if you feel that your son or daughter may be struggling.

4. Learn About Your Child You may be surprised to find out how complex of a creature your child really is. Talk to him or her about future plans and dreams, about interests and hobbies and likes and dislikes. Ask your child about what he or she sees in the future. There probably won’t be many definitive answers, but he or she is sure to have something in mind. What’s important is getting a general conversation going about the future.

Do you want to comprehend how to get your ex wife back? Don't write off the relationship merely because she walked out on you.

by Nikki Frost

Do you desire to comprehend how to get your ex wife back? Do not write off the relationship only because she ditched you.

Women are changeable by makeup - in 75 percent of separations, women are the ones who put a stop to the relationship, but incredibly often they are the ones keen to give it another turn. Putting a stop to the marriage may not have been the smartest decision, yet they will hardly ever acknowledge they were in the wrong and return to you. Hence it is up to you to learn how to get your ex wife back.

One thing you need to examine is where your marriage failed and what you can do to fix it. If she thought your marriage was dull and boring, you’ll need to come up with new ways to keep her interest. If you’ve let yourself go, now is the time to get back in shape. She simply may need to be away from you for a while.

For how to get your ex wife back, you should behave in such a way that you make her yearn for you as her life-partner for her remaining years.

A woman will want you more if she sees other women are flirting with you. It is in the nature of women to always keep going after styles to seek attention However, you will discover that what they desire is a rare look which their friends are endowed with.

So, to become the in-demand guy, you have to start dating in-demand girls. In fact, dating her close friends will actually make her want to get back together with you.

If you are uneasy with the idea of dating her friends, you can at least flirt with them. And when you see your ex wife out with her friends, don’t pay any attention to her, but rather complement and “flirt” with her friends.

In case she has a friend with mediocre looks, give her company. This will make your ex-wife to grow envious and she may crave for such an attention. Once you are conscious of that you will know how to get your ex wife back.

Pay attention to her actions around other men. Is she fully interested in you? Does she support you when others make fun of you? These are a couple of good signs for understanding how to get your ex wife back, they mean that she still likes you and wants to get you back into her life again.

When you want to know how to get your ex wife back, you need to realize that there is a new power relationship at play. You no longer belong to each other exclusively. Instead, you are two independent spheres rotating around the other.

It is important for the change in the dynamic of a relationship to be realized by men, otherwise they may think they don’t need to change their attitude towards their ex and they will be able to walk back into the relationship. It is a huge blunder.

You should be taking advantage of this shift in power while knowing how to get your ex wife back. In order to win her affection back, you need to change the things that she never liked with regards to you and the marriage while making her desire your affection and work for it. In case all these strategies fail, it is likely that your ex-wife is disinclined, hence it may not be easy for your renew old times.

Though, since women are erratic by character, there is no harm in trying and figuring out how to get your ex wife back.

by Jayde Johannsen

Despite the fact that the old saying goes “A man’s house is his castle,” it can feel more like a prison unless, as parents-both mother and father-and as responsible adults, we take the necessary measures to maintain a positive emotional and social balance within the home. Adults have their own needs, but of particular importance is the necessity to furnish a nurturing and positive environment for children.

Lesson number one that parents must learn to this effect: nothing is better than leading by example. In the absence of such exemplary leadership, children will almost never respect their parents’ cajolings and insinuations as to what parts of their behavior are good and, likewise, what parts are bad, etc. In other words, to be able to foster positive attitudes on the one hand, and to be able to get their children to desist with bad attitudes on the other hand, it’s absolutely necessary for parents to practice what they preach. It’s an inconvenient situation for certain parents, but it’s an undeniable truth and a vital lesson for all parents.

With this concept thoroughly implanted in a parent’s mind, it then becomes necessary to refine one’s notion of what needs to be reinforced in a child: what aspects of a child’s behavior need to be reinforced from a young age in order for him or her to grow up into a happy, responsible and balanced adult? Yes, asking one’s self these sorts of questions is incredibly important and integral to good parenting.

It has proven to be quite beneficial to think of this rather serious matter in the following way, by breaking the matter down into three over-arching categories: which behaviors are good for the child itself; which behaviors will have a positive impact on the family as a whole; and which behaviors will have an ultimately positive effect on society as a whole, not only now but particularly later when that child becomes a regular adult citizen.

As seen from the first perspective described, that of the welfare of the child itself, parents need to focus on keeping the child constantly active–both mentally and physically. There’s another old saying which makes reference to healthy bodies and healthy minds, and there isn’t a person in the world that can achieve the one without the other.

As seen from the second perspective, that of the family as a whole and with particular emphasis on relationships between its members, it’s important that children remain actively involved with other members of the family and on generally good terms with them all (again, leading by example comes into play here as well). A practical strategy can be to encourage performing activities in groups rather than individually, though the necessity for this will largely depend on children’s specific personalities.

Finally, from the point of view of society at large, parents are responsible for encouraging commitment with the community and a readiness to show solidarity with the plight of others. Some parents try to do this through religious institutions, others through lay not-for-profit initiatives or simply goodwill; whichever the case, the burden lies on parents’ shoulders to ensure that their children are accepting of and kind to people of all backgrounds and creeds.

by Jayde Johannsen

There’s not a parent out there that isn’t aware of what a major task it is to keep a healthy and peaceful atmosphere in place at home, especially in homes with large families present. Nonetheless, this is also a tremendously rewarding task, one whose compensation is rich enough for most parents to exert themselves greatly in this regard.

Parents need to accept the fact that there is no such thing as an ideal home, and that frictions will arise from time to time even with the most placid and amenable children. This means that excessively high expectations will only set parents up for a fall; rather, through talking to child experts and family/friends with significant parenting experience, less experienced parents can get a better sense of what to expect in terms of home living with the family.

In consideration of all these factors and their incredible importance for all parents, here there is a list of five crucial responsibilities that necessarily come along with good parenting, responsibilities that need to be fulfilled to really ensure that children grow up into responsible, balanced and successful people later in life.

1) The first responsibility on the list is reducible to one simple word: discipline. Though it may sounds stern, without discipline a home cannot function and can be turned practically into a living hell, for parents and children alike. Without even addressing the issue of corporal punishment by parents (a matter which elicits widely different reactions), it is crucial that a parent allow themselves some mechanism with which to maintain discipline among their children. Being left without a tool in this regard is bad news; parents need to be able to secure compliance somehow, or at least have something which the child will consider bad enough punishment, bad enough to avoid behaving in certain ways.

2) Secondly, parents need to be thinking about how to stimulate their children’s mental development at home, and not only leaving this to school teachers. Parents can promote their children’s intellectual abilities by reading together or playing mind/trivia games. Likewise, encouraging children to play music is a great way to open their minds up and has been shown to increase their performance in many academic areas, especially mathematics.

3) Just as the mind needs stimulation, so does the body; in this sense, sports and outdoor activities need to be very present in children’s lives. A house with child inhabitants has to have some sports equipment lying around, and parents need to incentivate their children to stop watching the TV and get some exercise…all the time. Even if it’s just a light session of catch between father and son, the activity will help develop bonds between the two and will enormously benefit the child.

4) Ensuring that children are comfortable and happy in their own home is very important, and that they feel comfortable about having friends come over; otherwise, kids may develop some sort of propensity to avoid being at home that will necessarily have bad long term effects. Hence, occasional sleep overs and activities involving a kid’s friends is very productive.

5) Finally, parents should promote their children’s sense of responsibility by assigning them certain chores throughout the home that need to be performed weekly, and that may have an allowance attached to them. This keeps kids engaged with their surroundings and will make for tidier, healthier people in the long run.

Whether you are sending your child off to preschool, middle school, high school or college, a new school year has begun. While some children love school and anticipate the first day with excitement, others groan when they think about school. For me, I looked forward to starting school, and especially loved the day I went shopping for new clothes and school supplies with my mom.

In my own home growing up and in our family today, we take our education seriously. Although my boys are not quite as willing and excited as I was about school, I still work to instill good success habits. Here are some ideas you can use with your children to ensure a successful school year.

Develop and Follow Morning, After School and Bedtime Routines

When my oldest son Kai was growing up, he was diagnosed with ADHD. It was then that I learned about how important routines were in a child’s life. Children thrive on consistency and structure, and routines provide that repetition and instill good habits. Make up sheets of paper that list every step your child should take before school, after school and before he goes to bed. Be specific and practice these routines until they become natural and habitual.

Goal Setting is Not Just for Adults - Children Can Learn Too

Once your children are old enough, give them a beginners course in setting goals for themselves. Keep it simple with children under age 12. Ask them to set one academic goal and one behavioral goal. For instance, I will work to get a B in Math this year or I will read 15 minutes every day. Good behavioral goals can focus on respecting other people, increasing confidence, or being more helpful. As your child gets older, he or she can learn to set larger goals that require more action steps, or increase the number of goals. Help your children create a colorful goals sheet or vision board as a reminder of what they are working on.

Keep the Lines of Communication Open

Communication with your child and his teachers is critical to your childs success. Last school year was not an easy one for my younger son. We were in constant communication with his teacher, working together to shape his character in and out of school. Some children will voluntarily share whats on their mind, but many children internalize their experiences and feelings. Learn to ask them open ended questions instead of closed ended questions like How was school? Questions that can be easily answered with yes, no or fine dont allow us to get inside our childs world. Keep yourself emotionally available and non-judgmental so your children feel comfortable sharing. Ive always found children are more prone to share at bedtime and during active playtime.

Help Your Child Identify His Interests and Talents

Have your ever noticed how some kids have natural talent for singing, some children are gifted academically, and others have a special knack for taking apart and putting things back together? That’s what is so great about children. Each child is unique and special. With all the competition and comparisons in school today, it can be easy for a child to get discouraged and feel bad about himself. Instead, help your child recognize what her strengths are by paying attention to what gives her energy, and what activities she naturally gravitates towards. Encourage your child to embrace his natural interests and talents instead of trying to be like someone else.

Minimize Your Childs Stressors

Stress, believe it or not, affects a child’s life as well as our own. While child stress is different than adult stress, children have their own set of pressures to deal with. Peers pressure them, teachers sometimes have high expectations, and kids are continually faced with trying new things. Stress for a child can be expressed through misbehavior, irritability or increased sensitivity. If your child is experiencing stress, incorporate stress management techniques to help them cope. Help them learn to have flexible thoughts, stand up to bullies, or manage perfectionism and procrastination. Try not to overbook the family calendar with too many extracurricular activities. Make healthy eating, exercise and proper sleep important goals for all family members.

As my youngest enters the second grade, and my eldest begins his first year in college, I am anticipating a successful school year. With these tips, you and your children can look forward to and celebrate success as they enter a new school year.

While a mom-to-be is expecting, shes usually reading dozen of baby books and questioning anyone wholl sit still on the most perfect way to raise an infant. By the time the baby is born, moms head will be spinning from contradictory and confusing advice. When she learns to relax and to trust her instincts, shell discover what works and doesnt work with her child. Most babies are contented with plenty of love and regular feedings. Sooner or later, mom learns a few tricks and practical techniques thatll help get her and baby through a hectic day.

The habit of swaddling an infant may seem old-fashioned. Many babies, however take comfort in being bundled as it seems to remind them of the safety of the womb. If a baby enjoys being swaddled, Mom should wrap it lightly in a smooth blanket. If the baby gets hot or sweaty, then its probably being wrapped too tight, and Mom should loosen up the blanket.

Babies usually dont do well with the unexpected, so keeping a regular bedtime will help babys transition from play to sleep. Along with a dependable schedule, a soothing bath and a bedtime story can help a baby settle down into a state of drowsiness. Since unnecessary noise will only stimulate an infant, radios and television should be turned down. Bedtime should be peaceful.

Most babies enjoy the back-and-forth motion of a swing. When baby is feeling fussy and doesnt want to settle down, the movement can be very soothing. Whether tucked into a baby swing and being gently swayed in Moms arms, babies are natural swingers. Theres no harm in indulging them.

A baby cant communicate it, but it needs a steady stream of love and attention. To a newborn, the environment can seem strange and puzzling. Being held fills a baby with a sense of security. Theres no such thing as spoiling a baby with too much affection. Even newborns respond positively to being touched and hugged. Sometimes, a baby will be colicky and wont stop crying, regardless of what Mom does. A new mother needs to realize that its okay and that the baby will soon be itself again. Nasty crying spells happen less frequently as a baby realizes the world isnt such a scary place. After all, Mom is always there to comfort it. Like any adult, a baby is happiest when feeling loved and secure.

With the holiday just around the corner, it’s now time to think about buying gifts for mom. Most often we always buy gifts that we purchase each year for our moms. Sooner or later the appeal of these gifts wear off, make it a point to choose a different set of gifts this year. Try shopping for holiday gifts online this time.

Instead of giving the same old gifts to your mother you should try to inject new energy and fresh vibes into the gifts you buy this holiday season. Below you will find a few fresh holiday gift ideas. Remember, these ideas are just guidelines so feel free to improvise whenever necessary to fit the needs of the mother in your life or your budget.

Idea no. 1: If you are buying your wife or mother a gift, buy them gold jewelry this holiday season. Jewelry is something that women always need, and stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Idea no. 2: When buying mother’s jewelry always make sure that you purchase from an online jewelry store that only sells jewelry for moms. These stores usually have jewelry that they know that moms really love.

Idea no. 3: When choosing a special gift for mom, make it a diamond gold ring this year. Diamonds are a woman’s all time favorite as women love gold rings with diamonds.

Idea no. 4: Clothes and shoes are something everybody gives and everybody gets, if you want to make a difference this year, buy your mom a gold pendant. A good pendant along with a gold chain is a stellar gift.

Idea no. 5: The simplest gifts for mom can even be a bouquet of roses. Women love flowers and specially roses. This is the cheapest yet most effective gift that you can give your mom.

Idea no. 6: If your mother doesn’t like jewelry with a lot of flash then remember to purchase a holiday gift that is simple. A simple gold ring with your mom’s name engraved will stay on her hand forever.

Buying gifts for the holiday season is not easy, especially if you are buying gifts for a person so close as your own mother. Gifts for mom need to be simple, and communicate the feeling of love for her. Moms want to be loved and your gifts should only be used as a means of showing your love for her and making her feel loved.

Baby carriers slings are a great thing because they have a practical use, but most people did not know that they have also become rather stylish. This is because the newer generations of these baby carriers slings come in a number of different colors, so that you do not have to worry about anything clashing with your favorite outfits.

These baby carriers are the state of the art because they give the parent so much freedom, without ever putting the baby at risk. This is a unique combination because a baby carrier has always had the purpose of making life easier, but these baby carriers slings are something a little bit different.

This lack of mobility could prevent the user from doing things like vacuum, do laundry, or just pick up around the house. Basically, these baby carriers were used for outings like shopping trips and picnics, but did not proving much help if you wanted to easily carry your child around the house.

This has now changed, however, as this newer generation of baby carriers is specially made for people who want to get full use out of them. They are not bulky and will not limit your mobility, which means that you can use them in a variety of situations.

The brown baby carrier is much like the black one, as it can be worn by either sex. It is a great color to wear in the fall because people tend to wear more earthy tones in the fall. These brown baby carriers will also blend in with most darker colors, so your baby carrier will become virtually invisible.

The crush organic baby carrier is the simplest color, as it is close to the color of skin. Because of this, these baby carriers slings can be worn in a number of different situations. The color of these slings is also very similar to a sling that you would have with a broken arm, so it is a color that lets people know to be careful around you.

Your baby will love lying in his or her sling almost as much as you will enjoy wearing it and even as your baby grows, the sling will be perfect. In fact, these slings can be worn until the baby is about 30 pounds, which will probably be the point where you will stop carrying him or her around anyway, if not sooner.

Even if you decide on only one baby carrier, however, you can trust that these colors work well in nearly any situation because the makers of this product understand what it is like to be a parent. These colors will also stand up against the test of time, as they are all made with the same strong fabric that has been reinforced multiple times. These baby carriers might look great, but that does not mean that they are not tough.

Everybody’s favorite holiday is Christmas. Why should it not be? There are gifts and treats and Santa Claus. There are flying reindeer and screaming kids when their personalized Santa letter comes. It is a season of magic. Few things make the holiday more real than a personalized letter from Santa, it makes the holiday more real. This has not always been the case. The jolly old elf had an up hill fight to rein king of the holidays.

Can you imagine a year without Santa Claus and Christmas? Well that was the way it was back in the early days of America. In fact, Christmas was illegal. Back in the 1700’s this was a land primary filled with English, Irish, and Scottish settlers and Christmas was not big in the home lands of these people. In fact, in Scotland, the tradition on Christmas Eve was to light huge fires in the fire place to keep elves from coming down the chimney. Santa would have been smoked! So these settlers saw Christmas as “pope-ish” and outlawed it. In fact, you were required to work on Christmas. Well, with the arrival of settlers from Scandinavia, Germany, and Italy it grew to become accepted and our version of Santa started to form. We think of him as ageless but the American Santa has aged from his first appearance. Back then he was thin, had brown hair, and was clean shaven. Our present day view of Santa made its appearance in the 1850’s. About the same time he got reindeer, though Rudolph would have to wait another 100 years. This, however, does not explain our love of the great elf.

It can really be summed up with things like the Santa at the mall and at the end of parades. He’s real, the kids reason, they have seen him and even sat in his lap and told him the endless list of toys they wanted. Their personalized letter from him shows that he really does watch and know them. That is enough to make him king.

The 4th of July is loads of fun. There is swimming and hot dogs and playing outside all day. Then, just when you think you can’t have anymore fun, the night sky explodes in color to a song by Lee Greenwood. Now this is all fun, but it’s just not Christmas. Uncle Sam does not send letters or bring gifts. He is a rather impersonal holiday icon.

There is the Easter Bunny. He brings eggs but his eggs are made of chocolate. He even plays a little game by hiding some of them and you have to go find them. That’s fun and interactive but a little scary too. Think about it wouldn’t you run terrified from a 6 foot pink bunny? Besides, the Bunny doesn’t talk. The other childhood icon is tooth fairy. Granted, it’s not on a holiday, the fairy might come anytime of year but she still has icon status. Once again, the tooth fairy doesn’t talk so it misses the endearing quality of Santa. You should think of the tooth fairy this way. It’s a mystic being that comes to you in your sleep to steal your teeth. It’s no wonder children don’t write her letters.

It is easy to see why Santa has such a special place in our hearts and the hearts of children. He is the personification of all things good.

Create magic in your child’s eyes with our Letters.
