Are you over 35 and considering the prospect of trying to get pregnant? It is a scary time in my opinion and, for me, left me with lots of questions about whether my husband and I would even be able to start a family. We have only been married 2 years so we would like to have had a little bit longer, but I am now 36 years old and we don’t want to leave it until too late. The thing that is motivating me is that I don’t know what our fertility chances are, so in order to learn a little bit more I started researching on the internet and have found the following.

Where do I even begin with the fertility issues that women are affected with. Here are just two of the factors that can affect a womans’ fertility. 1. Body Weight -either underweight or overweight can cause problems with fertility chances. Underweight women may not be able to conceive and if they do, the fetus/baby requires a lot of nutrition that underweight mothers may not be able to provide. (Well that’s not the problem I’ve got…) Overweight women on the other hand, can have difficulties conceiving due to incorrect hormone levels which are caused by the obesity.

2. The other major issue is with the ovaries and uterus. In the ovaries you can have problems like Poly Cystic Ovaries (PCO), twisted ovaries or fibroids. And then in the uterus, one of the most common causes of fertility issues is with endometriosis. This can cause further complications such as low progesterone count, diminished ovarian reserve and other ovulation disorders. It’s just my luck that I have both these issues to deal with, I’m overweight and have a long history of endometriosis.

But don’t forget, it’s not just the women that have the fertility issues. Men can have fertility issues such as: low sperm count and low sperm motility, injury or chronic diseases, sperm blockage or even an STD. And then both of us can have our fertility affected by other factors such as malnutrition, a depressed mental condition and endocrinology factors.

It is because of all these other factors in our life that we have decided to take an holistic approach to trying to get pregnant after 35. We are aware that our chances of conceiving naturally, diminish as we get older so we are going to get our bodies and our minds right first. I think that’s the right place to start.

Girls are usually given names that are associated with purity and morality, and boys are often associated with their position in the family.

Greek families also often name their babies on the seventh day after their birth, and sometimes on the tenth day. Traditionally, first-born males are named after their paternal grandfather, and first-born females are named after their paternal grandmother. The Greek Orthodox Church also strongly influences the baby-naming process, and many infants are given the names of saints. Because of this saint name acquisition, children acquire their saints name day. Therefore, many Greek Orthodox people celebrate their lives on two occasions: their actual birth date and their saints name day.

For many Italian and Hispanic cultures, baby names are also often influenced by religion. In these areas, the Roman Catholic religion is the most prevalent; therefore, biblical names like Maria (in Hispanic culture), and Paulo (in Italian culture) are common.

In Jewish culture, baby girls have what is called the Zeved Habat ceremony, while baby boys have the Berit Milah ceremony. The Zevet Habat is a small ceremony held at a home or in a synagogue. During the ceremony, which is led by a Rabbi, the mother recites a word, the name-giving prayer is said, and she then gives thanks to everyone.

There are countless different ways of naming a baby, and there is no right or wrong method to giving your child the perfect name. It is interesting to see, however, the traditions and customs of baby naming across the globe.
