When it comes to your children you always want them to be happy. It’s not always the easiest job in the world but it can very much be done. When children are young they seem to be happy only in our arms but, as they grow older you will start to realize that they are becoming distant from us. Yes, this is a sad process, but it HAPPENS and we as parents must adapt and learn how to make a child happy.
First off we want to always discipline our children. This will keep them in line and teach them how to treat people with respect. If there are no set rules and it’s a free for all. You will see as your children get older they will start to drift off on their own. One of the most important things to do is guide them through this process and make sure that they stay on the right track.
You also want to focus on giving your children rewards as they are young for doing good things. This will keep them happy and teach them how they will be rewarded for good deeds. On the other hand, you want to give them consequences if they seem to be acting badly or out of order. Things like timeouts will keep your child acting good because they will be afraid to get in trouble.
As your children grow older you want to change the methods up a little bit. For one, instead of timeouts you might want to sit them down and have a nice talk. You can inform them about many things going on in the world. Some of the things to talk about include:
1. Crime- Make sure to keep your children updated with anything going on in their town or city. Make sure they know how to stay away from crime and how to avoid crimes if they are going on in your neighborhood.
2. School- Make sure they have a clear understanding of all the expectation that they must meet. You want your children to behave in school and work hard to achieve good grades. In the end, if they graduate school and continue on with a good background they will be successful in their occupation.
3. Drugs/Alchohol- We as parents must make sure our children stay on the right track. When they are young and becoming teenagers we must enforce how alcohol and drugs can hurt them. Staying away from these bad habits can help your children become successful, so as the parent you must enforce it!
4. Driving- With all of the recent tragedies we have seen we all must realize the purpose of a vehicle. We must teach our children to drive safe and to follow the laws because if not there will be serious consequences.
