For much of my career many people would say to me “You’re so lucky to work in a job that you love” and at the time I agreed, the radio industry was a fun and exciting path to take. But it was also challenging, taking a few years for people to really start to take me seriously. I remember my Grandmother saying “Why don’t you get a safe and sensible job for a woman like a teacher or a nurse?” I take my hat off to people who do those jobs, but they’re just not for me. Radio allowed me to be creative, challenge the technical side of my brain and also let me unleash the slightly shy performer in me.

I continued in this industry for about 10 years and while I achieved many goals, there was still something missing. I really feel like my goal in life is to help people and animals . And to be able to inspire others with my passion. But how could I do this when the financial crisis looks like its just getting worse and I have just given birth to my first child? My husband also lost his job and had to do some laboring just to keep paying the rent, so the outlook wasn’t very inspiring.

Of course there’s a billion reasons why I shouldn’t follow my dream right now and you may be thing the same about yourself right now. Here’s some that crossed my mind: Not enough money for your new venture, you’re going on holidays, you’re moving house, someone in your family is sick, your partner left you or perhaps you’re organising a wedding and what else could possible fit in your life?

Well to be honest that’s just a load of crap! Sorry to put it bluntly, but YOU are one only one putting up those hurdles. Don’t feel bad, I did exactly the same thing and so do millions of others around the world. They settle for mediocrity because its easy …. in the SHORT TERM!

My key turning point was having my first baby. I realised that to provide the kind of life for her that I envisaged was to follow my passion. I heard someone say “Find Your Passion & Learn How To Make Money Out Of It & You Will Never Work A Day In Your Life”. And as I read more and more about successful people this became a common theme of advice. I read many books by successful entrepreneurs such as Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump and Richard Branson. Then lots of more spiritual self help books like “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne and “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay. My situation didn’t change overnight, but I had faith that I was finally nurturing my brain with useful information for a successful future and that consistency would eventually pay off.

Creating a visual DREAM or VISION BOARD was my next step. So many successful people recommend doing this to really help you spell out what you want to achieve in life. I made mine out of a big piece of cardboard and cut out pictures and words from magazines and other things that are really important to me and make up my ideal life. I started with things like the type of car I would like to drive and house I want to live in and added picture of fun things I want to do like dog sledding in Alaska. I want to write a book, so I put that in there and I want to get into dancing, so I put pictures of some funky dancers and pasted my head on there.

One of the other main things was to run my own successful business from home. Soon after having my baby I decided I didn’t want to leave her in care at such a young age.

That’s when I started looking around and trying a few things: 1. online data entry 2. affiliate marketing 3. multi-level-marketing (MLM)

I absolutely hated MLM the most. Friends and family started avoiding me because I was always trying to sell them something or sign them up.

But I knew that there were heaps of people working from home and making money online. I knew I had to be careful though and sort out the REAL stuff from all those DODGY offers. You really need to look at the different companies closely. First of all you need to find out if they are a registered business. Don’t believe the hype of limited time offers etc and be wary if they put too much pressure on you. And don’t hand over any money until you know exactly what the opportunity is.

Eventually I chose a company I am comfortable with. I am now proud to work with these people and the Personal Development products they market. We are currently in a booming market trend as the online world continues to explode so take advantage and take a chance like I did and start living the life you deserve.

So if you do your homework then you can make your choice with confidence, but always think about whether you’re choosing PASSION or PROSPERITY?

I always choose BOTH!
